Everyone Needs a Hobby

It’s devastatingly easy to get caught up in the bustle of everyday life and surviving it. The older we get, the quicker time seems to pass by. And we find ourselves asking where the day, week, month, or year went. Seriously, how are we already in the year 2023? Because of this, I think it’s important to have something that occasionally breaks up the monotony, something like a hobby.

When people think of a hobby, their mind typically goes to some sort of overly involved activity like starting a full fledged garage band or joining a bowling league or taking part in community theater. While those are great hobby options, not everyone has the kinda time or brain space to fully throw themselves into that level of hobbying. But a hobby can be as simple as playing games on your nintendo switch or keeping up with your favorite reality TV show or playing fetch with your doggo! Whatever it is, I think it’s very important to interrupt your day to day every once and a while with some form of hobby.

That’s why we’re going to spend this entire month trying out different creative hobbies. And what better month than the first of a new year.

I’ve got four really fun and beginner friendly creative activities for y’all to try out and possibly take on as your new hobby.

And even if you don’t like any of these activities, hopefully you discover time you can carve out and reserve for whatever you decide to indulge in as a hobby.

If you’ve read any of my diary entries in the past couple of months, you may have caught onto my ongoing search for ways (often creativity based) to do more than just survive your way through life. It’s a pretty big passion of mine, as it’s what I’m consistently looking for and trying to focus on in my own life.

You can download this PDF image file to review the needed supplies and get them ready for the coming walkthroughs of each activity!

I look forward to exploring different hobbies with y’all over the next four weeks. If you’re having a good time and want to share your experiments with me, I’d LOVE to see it. If you’re on my email newsletter subscriber list you can reply directly to the weekly emails I send you about the week's activity. If you aren’t already an email newsletter subscriber, go ahead and fill out the form at the bottom of any page on my website.
